Philips develops and produces products in the area of patient monitoring for the global market with around 500 employees in Böblingen, Germany. Hence, it belongs to the leading providers of the hospital, according to the market share. Furthermore, Philips participates in joint projects in the field of personal healthcare. In the EU project “MyHeart”, systems for early diagnoses of cardiac vascular diseases are embedded in textile solutions. Philips is experienced in data analysis via Bluetooth, GSM and mobile communications. Not only the world’s first Bluetooth-ECG was developed in the laboratory Aachen, but also a long lasting ECG which is energy efficient and the first in textiles integrated mobile cardiological monitoring unit for a 24 hour availability. Furthermore, Philips is responsible for the equipment of the ambulance as well as for monitoring and defibrillator solutions and for highly qualitative systems for reanimation.
The integration of the innovative components of Philips into the telemedical assistance systems enhances the degree of innovation and aims at extending the operation area of the tele-EMS physicians. Philips supports the research project TemRas in proving the applicability of medical technology in EMS and also in helping establishing the telemedical rescue assistance system in emergencies on a long-term basis.
